Terms of use

Last updated 25 October 2026.

These terms are an agreement between you and Katie Larissa Martin (ABN 60 695 024 558) ("we", "us"), the operator of Pebble Island. By creating an account you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.

1. Accounts are for parents and guardians

You must be 18 or over and a parent or legal guardian of the children you add, or have their permission. Children use Pebble Island under your account and supervision; they can't create accounts or buy anything. You are responsible for your account, for keeping your password and parent PIN private, and for how the children in your household use the app.

One account is for one household. You may add each child who lives in your household or whom you home-educate.

2. What Pebble Island is, and isn't

Pebble Island is supplementary learning: lessons, games and progress reports written with reference to the Australian Curriculum v9. It is not a complete curriculum, a school, a formal assessment or a diagnostic tool. Levels and progress figures are estimates from short activities; they aren't grades or a statement of a child's year level.

The report builder drafts a report from your child's activity in the app. You are responsible for reviewing it, adding anything else required, and meeting your state or territory's home education requirements. We don't guarantee that any report will be accepted by a government body.

3. Plans and payment

Plans, in Australian dollars: Monthly $30 a month; Annual $306 a year. Any GST that applies is shown at checkout. Subscriptions are sold and processed by Stripe, which acts as the merchant of record, and Stripe's checkout terms also apply to your purchase.

Renewal. Monthly and annual plans renew automatically at the end of each period, and the payment method you used is charged, until you cancel.

Cancelling. Cancel any time in Grown-ups → Manage billing. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. You can switch between monthly and annual there too.

Free trial. Monthly and annual plans start with a 5-day free trial. You add a payment method at the start. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your plan starts and you're charged for the first period. Cancel during the trial and you won't be charged. One free trial per household.

Refunds. We don't give refunds for change of mind once a paid period has started. This doesn't limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (see section 8). If something goes wrong, contact us first and we'll try to fix it.

Price changes. We'll email you at least 30 days before a price change affects your next renewal. You can cancel before then.

Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe will retry it. If it still can't be collected, access is paused until the plan is paid or you choose a new one. Your saved progress is kept.

4. Fair use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we do, we'll tell you why, and where it's fair we'll refund any unused prepaid period.

5. Your content and our content

The information you and your children put into Pebble Island stays yours. You let us store and process it only to provide the service, as our privacy policy describes.

Pebble Island's lessons, characters, artwork and software belong to us or our licensors. While your plan is active, we give your household a personal, non-transferable licence to use them. Curriculum references belong to their owners; see the attribution below.

6. Availability and changes

We work to keep Pebble Island available and accurate, but it may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control, and content may contain errors. Tell us and we'll fix them. We may improve, change or remove features. If a change significantly reduces what a paid plan includes, we'll tell you in advance, and you can cancel and receive a refund for any unused prepaid period.

Progress saved only in your browser can be lost if browser data is cleared. Signing in saves a copy to your account.

7. Ending your account

You can stop using Pebble Island at any time. Cancel your plan in Manage billing, then delete your data in Grown-ups → Account → Delete my account data, or email us to close your account.

8. Australian Consumer Law and our liability

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to choose a refund or compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If a failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can't be excluded.

Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows: (a) we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions made using progress figures or draft reports; and (b) our total liability to you in connection with Pebble Island is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Where the law allows us to limit our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For significant changes we'll email account holders at least 30 days before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel before then, and we'll refund any unused prepaid period for an annual plan.

10. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. If there's a problem, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. Either of us may then take the matter to the courts of that state or territory.
